Sampdoria striker Maxi Lopez went under the knife today after tearing the meniscus in his left knee.
The forward picked up the injury during their sixth consecutive defeat at the weekend and is expected to be out for at least a month.
The official Sampdoria website confirmed the operation was successful at the Villa Stuart clinic in Rome and there were no complications.
Maxi Lopez will begin the rehabilitation process over the next few days, but it is still not entirely clear how long he will be out of action for.
