Walter Mazzarri was again eager to point out Napoli are “a team of champions” and not Edinson Cavani-dependent despite his four goals against Dnipro.

The 4-2 victory took the Partenopei to second place in their group and ended Dnipro’s 100 per cent record, while AIK beat PSV 1-0 to go third. Click here for the Europa League fixtures, results and standings.

“I have a team of champions and not just Cavani. I am proud of all these lads,” said the Coach.

“It seemed to be another cursed night for us, but thanks to the group we were able to turn it around.

“I give compliments to all my players tonight and not just El Matador. Can we use four ‘tenors’ simultaneously? Anything can be done, we just have to work on keeping the balance.

“We wanted Cavani in 2010, I believed in him and hoped he could become the kind of top player that he effectively is. When he arrived, the Napoli fans weren’t too happy, as Fabio Quagliarella was leaving.

“I got to convince Cavani via Walter Gargano that Napoli was the right club for him. He exploded here because the team plays for him.”

Edu Vargas was disappointing again and jeered off the field after giving away the ball in midfield for a Dnipro goal.

“Everything seems to be going wrong for him. It’s a shame, but I had to substitute him to shake up the team. I admire the Chilean, just as I do all the others in the squad.”
