Fiorentina have reacted angrily to rumours Milan, Napoli and Lazio are eager to poach Vincenzo Montella. “He is under lock and key.”

The stories have been appearing in newspapers over the last few days, as the Coach impressed with his style of football and results taking the Viola to fourth place.

“I really love watching this team, even when they are training,” said patron Andrea Della Valle.

“There’s a long way to go and a lot of euphoria at recent results, but we must remain concentrated. It’ll be tough against Milan tomorrow and the important thing is to keep playing in our style, which has impressed all of Italy.

“Adriano Galliani said he admired Montella’s football and we knew full well he was the right choice. Obviously he is under lock and key, so anything else is just newspaper talk.”

Tomorrow will also see the Viola face Riccardo Montolivo, who left on a free transfer to join Milan after a lengthy and often bitter tug of war over his contract.

“He is a good lad and we even spoke personally. Sometimes agents can say things that are not helpful and it’s best not to create controversy,” continued ADV.

“It all turned out for the best anyway, as he is happy at Milan and we have an excellent squad. His agents managed to take him away from Florence, but I hold nothing against Riccardo.”
