Del Piero's Sydney Coach quits

Alessandro Del Piero’s time at Sydney FC has taken a turn for the worse, as Coach Ian Crook quit after a series of defeats.

The team has shown it struggles badly without their star signing, as Del Piero was absent for a 7-2 thumping by Central Coast and when he was substituted they went from winning to eventually losing 3-2 to arch rivals Melbourne Victory.

Crook has now resigned due to “ill health,” suggesting the pressure was too much for him after only six games in charge, and assistant Steve Corica has stepped in while a replacement is sought.

There are already reports Sydney FC will again look to Italy for their new tactician.
