Gennaro Gattuso has revealed that he came very close to leaving Milan for Bayern Munich in the summer of 2008.
“I had basically reached an agreement with Bayern Munich,” the Sion player told Sport Bild. “We were 95 per cent of the way there.
“However, Milan President Silvio Berlusconi and Vice-President Adriano Galliani were opposed to the move.
“They made me understand that Milan was my home.”
The 2006 World Cup winner, now 34, joined the Rossoneri in 1999 from Salernitana. He left Milan last summer at the end of his contract.
