Contract talks between Roma and Daniele De Rossi are continuing, the club have confirmed on Monday.
The Roman midfielder has less than 12 months left on his agreement in the capital which means he could be available on a free transfer next June.
Both parties seemingly want to extend their relationship, but agreeing personal terms is proving to be problematic.

"We have agreed terms on the variable part of the contract, but there is still some distance between us when it comes to the fixed element," Roma director Claudio Fenucci told Radio RAI.
"His agents have made their request and we have made our offer. Now we have to work on the difference.
"De Rossi's contract renewal has been with us for all of the summer," added Fenucci. "Daniele is important for us though and both parties want to reach an agreement.
"He's a great player, an excellent professional and that has to be noted. His aspirations are also legitimate.
"The club, though, have launched an economical project that is fixed on revenue growth but pays close attention to costs."
Roma are keen to keep the player given his Roman status, his ability and his transfer value, but they'd have to dig deep into their pockets to accommodate his requests.
De Rossi currently earns around €4.5m a campaign at the Stadio Olimpico. It has been alleged that he wants a salary close to €6m a year – above even Francesco Totti.
Now 28, the midfielder has spent his entire career at the club after graduating through their youth academy.
