Siena have dismissed suggestions that they are prepared to sell Gaetano D’Agostino to Genoa in January.
“I’m not surprised by the fact that he could be of interest to Genoa or any other clubs, but these are just rumours for now and nothing else,” Siena sporting director Stefano Antonelli told TMW.
“He’s a fundamental player for us and there is no doubt that he will remain with us,” added the official whose club are fighting to stay in Serie A.
“Today’s football, more than ever, needs quality players and Gaetano really does have a lot of that…”
The playmaker, now 30, has played in five Serie A games so far for Serse Cosmi’s side in 2012-13.
He scored three goals in 24 games for the club last season following his move from Fiorentina.
