Palermo chief Maurizio Zamparini has insisted that Coach Gian Piero Gasperini’s job is safe despite another loss.

Palermo chief Maurizio Zamparini has insisted that Coach Gian Piero Gasperini’s job is safe despite another loss.

The Rosanero were defeated 3-0 by Bologna on Sunday which means that Gasp has only collected two wins since he took over from Giuseppe Sannino after Week 3.

“Gasperini will stay here with me for many years,” the normally axe-happy Zamparini noted. “He is an excellent tactician.

“Palermo were well in the game against Bologna until Alberto Gilardino scored.

“Anyhow, new director Pietro Lo Monaco is here to sort some things out and Gasperini’s style of play needs two quality wingers. He’s asked for some new players.”

Lo Monaco is expected to be active in the January transfer market.

Palermo are in relegation trouble after collecting just 11 points from the 39 on offer.
