Villas-Boas praises Lazio

Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas praised Lazio for their performance that “put us under serious pressure.”

The 0-0 draw at the Stadio Olimpico was enough for the Romans to qualify, though Spurs have to wait until the final game with Panathinaikos to be sure.

“It was a difficult game in terms of possession and Lazio put us under serious pressure,” he told Sky Sport Italia.

“We started well, but towards the end of the first half we suffered a lot. They did very well. I think the draw is a good result for us.

“Gareth Bale’s goal should not have been disallowed… just like the in the game at White Hart Lane.”

Villas-Boas was asked about the reports that Spurs are trying to sign Roma midfielder Miralem Pjanic in January.

“He is certainly a player of great value, but I don’t think a club like Roma is going to sell. In any case, I am not here to talk transfers.”

The former Chelsea manager also commented on the news Roberto Di Matteo was fired after a defeat to Juventus.

“In football everyone wants everything as soon as possible, which is why things like this manage to surprise all of football. It is difficult to accept a thing like that.

“My future? I would love to experience Brazilian or Argentine football some day. I know it’s a crazy idea, but I like to change. Right now I am happy in the Premier League.”
