Rolando Maran concedes Catania “did not play well” against rivals Palermo. “This defeat really burns.”
The Elefantini are still higher up the table than their neighbours, but were comprehensively beaten 3-1 in the Derby di Sicilia.
“We conceded an early goal and perhaps that affected our performance on a psychological level. We created some chances to get back into it, but admittedly did not play well.
“It is a game both teams feel keenly, but we suffered under Palermo’s aggressive approach and just as we had made adjustments to play better, we conceded the second goal.
“This defeat really burns, considering what it means to the fans, but we have to roll our sleeves up and start again,” continued Coach Maran.
“We need to find the right grit to get back in gear. I have always said our objective is to secure safety and I don’t care what anyone else says.”
