UEFA President Michel Platini has revealed that the Europa League could be scrapped in favour of an even bigger Champions League.
The proposal under consideration is to axe Europe’s second club competition and expand the Champions League from 32 teams to 64.
“There is an on-going debate to determine what form the European competitions will have between 2015 and 2018,” the former Juventus legend told Ouest-France in an interview.
“We're discussing the idea, but nothing is decided yet and a decision will be made in 2014.”
