Novara goalkeeper Alberto Maria Fontana’s three-and-a-half-year ban in the betting scandal has been wiped out by the TNAS tribunal.

The shot-stopper had been found guilty of match-fixing in the 2010 Coppa Italia match Chievo 3-0 Novara, a verdict reiterated by the Federal Court.

However, his appeal to the TNAS was accepted today and the ban completely wiped out.

“Just thinking about it makes me shiver,” said Fontana. “I was dragged into this situation without knowing why.

“There was a lot of confusion in this trial and I ended up in the meat grinder, paying for it with five months out of football.”
