Former Fiorentina Coach Delio Rossi has quashed rumours linking him with the Roma job.

Reports in the Italian media had suggested that the 52-year-old was front-runner to take over from Zdenek Zeman at the Giallorossi.

But he has denied those reports, instead praising the work done by the Czech tactician, as well as commenting on his successor at the Viola, Vincenzo Montella.

“I have never had any contact with the leadership at Roma,” he told Radio Les. “Whatever was written in the papers is not true.

“Zeman has not changed at all – he is always the same. I am very happy for him and the work he has done.

“I join the congratulations being given to Montella. He is a Coach who is well-prepared and curious.

“Fiorentina are undoubtedly the revelation of the season.”

He also remarked on some of the jobs offered to him since his departure from Florence.

“There have been teams in Serie A who have contacted me,” he said. “But they were not interesting enough for me to call back.”
