Massimo Moratti has cooled talk of the Scudetto after his Inter side moved back into second place in the table.
The Nerazzurri leapfrogged Napoli with a 2-1 win over the Azzurri on Sunday night. The Beneamata are now only four points behind leaders Juventus.
“Dark horses for the title? No, we just take each game as it comes,” he told Sky Sport Italia on Monday. “We try to play well and then it's down to what the other teams do.
“Aside from certain players' performances – which keep getting better – such as Fredy Guarin, it’s great to see that we approach these games in the right way, in the traditions of this football club.”
Inter confirmed their strength against big clubs again last night, but they have dropped points against the likes of Siena, Atalanta and Parma.
“Our focus is very high in the big matches, both from the players and the Coach, who really does his homework.
“I think he tries to do likewise against the others, but perhaps there's just a little less concentration.”
With the January transfer window now less than a month away, Moratti was asked about possible reinforcements.
“We'll talk about that in due course,” he noted. “We'll see what we need and then look at how to move.”
Boss Andrea Stramaccioni is keen on getting a back-up for centre-forward Diego Milito.
