Giovanni Trapattoni was inducted into the Italian Football Hall of Fame and tipped Antonio Conte and Andrea Stramaccioni as his heirs.
The Republic of Ireland manager was in Florence today for the event and was asked who in the current Serie A landscape most resembled him.
“Perhaps Conte, but also Stramaccioni,” replied Il Trap. “We have some great Coaches in Italy.”
Conte won the Scudetto with Juventus last season, while Stramaccioni is the youngest Serie A boss at Inter.
“I owe a great deal to Italian football, as when you win it’s not just down to the tactician, but also the club behind him.
“Every result comes from great sacrifices, regardless of the team you are in charge of.”
