Juventus striker Nicklas Bendtner has gone under the knife this afternoon as a consequence of his thigh injury.

The Dane picked up the problem in Wednesday’s Coppa Italia victory over Cagliari and is set to be out for up to three months.

Bendtner, signed in the summer on loan from Arsenal, was assessed by Finnish surgeon Sakari Orava at the weekend.

He was then given a medical by Arsenal consultant Ernest Schilders who backed up Orava’s recommendation for surgery on the adductor tendon in his left thigh.

The 24-year-old has had a tough start to life in Turin as he has yet to score in 10 games for the Italian champions.
