Serie A side Udinese are in talks with Genoa about signing Alexander Merkel, it has been confirmed.
The young German has been linked with the Bianconeri in recent weeks and his agent has admitted a move could happen.
“I can say that there are talks going on between the two clubs,” Fabio Parisi is quoted as saying.
“The boy has no particular preference right now over his destination, he’s young and it is important that he can play with regularity.
“I think there could be some developments towards the end of this week and if the move happens then it will definitely occur in January.”
Udinese and Genoa have already done a deal that will see Antonio Floro Flores, currently on loan at Granada, join the Marassi outfit.
Merkel, 20, returned to the Grifone in the summer after a spell at Milan, but he hasn’t been able to break into the first team plans of Gigi Del Neri.
