Napoli were amongst the many clubs interested in Paulo Dybala before he eventually joined Palermo in the summer.
“There was contact around a year ago,” agent Vincenzo D'Ippolito told Radio Kiss Kiss. “Napoli were interested.
“However, there were a lot of clubs circling the player and, in the end, the Napoli directors decided to withdraw.”
Dybala, likened to Sergio Aguero, moved to Sicily in the summer after a spell at Instituto de Cordoba.
The youngster, two goals in 11 games so far this season, has been called up to the Argentina Under-17 and Under-20 sides, but without playing.
The 19-year-old was born in Argentina, but he was given Italian citizenship in August thanks to his Italian grandmother.
