Vladimir Petkovic warns Lazio they “must grow in terms of mentality” as they face Sampdoria on Delio Rossi’s debut.
Former Biancocelesti boss Rossi was brought in this week to replace Ciro Ferrara and is thrown in at the deep end against his old club. Click here for a match preview.
“Rossi has always known how to make his teams play great football,” said Petkovic. “Alright, a week isn’t long to work, but I think he will do well with Sampdoria.
“As for us, we haven’t always had the necessary grit to finish off games. It requires more belief and conviction, but I am sure that against Samp we will see a change.
“We have fought until now and can do better, but I’m still happy with the team so far. I think in 2013 we will still be in the Scudetto race and also have ambitions in the Europa League.
“Lazio can still grow in terms of mentality, as the great teams play the same way home and away. Right now we are not 100 per cent, but I think after the Christmas break we’ll return with even more hunger.”
