Catania’s Francesco Lodi has an ambition for 2013 – he wants to finally win an Italian international cap.
The playmaker has played for his country at various youth levels, but he’s never even been called up to the full Azzurri squad.
“My dream is to play football wearing the shirt of my country,” the 28-year-old commented in an interview.
“A call-up would also be a reward for my club because I’ve grown gradually, but consistently, at Catania.”
Lodi plays as a deep-lying playmaker, a role currently covered in the squad by Juventus’ Andrea Pirlo and Marco Verratti of Paris Saint-Germain.
