Sampdoria have confirmed that they intend to hand Mauro Icardi a new contract following his goal exploits at Juventus.
The 19-year-old grabbed a brace at the weekend in his club’s shock 2-1 win at the Juventus Stadium.
“He is growing game after game,” Doria sporting director Carlo Osti told Il Secolo XIX. “But the big test comes now because he has to find some balance.
“We’ll soon discuss an extension to his contract with his agent, but the player shouldn’t worry about that.”
The Argentine joined the Italian club in 2011 from Spanish giants Barcelona. His current deal at Marassi expires in June 2015.
