Riccardo Montolivo is still targeting a third-place finish with Milan despite being held at Sampdoria on Sunday.
The Diavolo are now nine points away from the Champions League zone, but the summer signing insists that continues to be the aim this term.
“Although we are a little distant, I hope to contribute in getting us up to third,” the Bosman capture from Fiorentina noted after the 0-0 draw last night.
“We are still hoping to get up there and that has to be the case while that objective is still possible mathematically.”
The Diavolo were looking to collect a sixth win from their last seven League games, but their preparations for Sunday night were hampered by the midweek extra-time efforts against Juventus in the Coppa Italia.
“There have been a few games very close to each other and it is only normal to start feeling some tiredness,” the Italian international concluded.
