Genoa released a statement confirming they have fined several players for an unauthorised night out on Thursday.
The unnamed members of the squad had gone out to celebrate the return of Antonio Floro Flores and stayed out until 11pm.
Fans were furious, as the team then lost a crucial relegation dogfight with Cagliari on Sunday.
“Genoa Cfc announce that following the investigation into the violation of the internal code by its players in a dinner last Thursday night, these players have been punished.
“The club confirms the money from the fines will be given to the family of Matteo, a child in need of medical care, as well as other charitable causes.
“The members of the squad also wish to apologise to the club and its supporters for their behaviour, assuring that in future incidents of this nature will not happen again.”
