Cavani puts Napoli above goals

Edinson Cavani is delighted with his 100th goal in Serie A – but he insists that the results of his Napoli side are more important.

“Perhaps it was written somewhere that I would get my 100 against Fiorentina seeing as my first came against them,” the former Palermo man told the Corriere dello Sport.

“I’m happy, very happy, because I like scoring, but I continue to think as I always have done – Napoli’s interests come first, then my personal ones…

“Now we must look ahead to prove what we are made of.”

Joint-second Napoli are now five points behind leaders Juventus following the 1-1 draw in Tuscany on Sunday afternoon.

“It’s not a missed opportunity,” he added. “We’ve gained a point at a tough ground against a good team.

“After all, you can’t always win as there will always be opponents and Fiorentina did well.”
