Maarten Stekelenburg is likely to remain at Roma for the rest of the season despite losing his first team shirt to Mauro Goicoechea.

The Dutchman has been linked with a variety of sides, but his agent has admitted that a move this month would be difficult.

“At the moment there are just rumours and journalistic speculation,” Rob Jansen told calciomercato.it.

“We have yet to receive a concrete offer, so it is therefore probable that he will stay at Roma in January rather than leave.”

The 30-year-old has been paired with Spanish giants Barcelona given that Victor Valdes is set to quit the club in the summer.

“We know what is moving in the goalkeeping market,” the representative continued. “But nothing has been decided.”

The former Ajax custodian has played in nine League games this term.
