The TAR tribunal has rejected a last-minute legal bid to have Cagliari-Milan played behind closed doors amid security fears.
Sunday afternoon’s fixture had been moved to the Stadio Olimpico in Turin, then switched back to the Is Arenas on Friday after Cagliari won their appeal.
This morning reports emerged that the local authorities had staged their own emergency appeal to the TAR tribunal to have the game played behind closed doors or called off entirely.
They continue to maintain the Is Arenas is not prepared for such a huge influx of visiting fans, which is why the game with Juventus was moved to the Stadio Tardini in Parma before Christmas.
The stadium, which was constructed over the summer in Quartu Sant’Elena, requires a safety certificate from the local authorities on a game-by-game basis.
