Milan Vice-President Adriano Galliani has warned Barcelona that “favourites don’t always win” ahead of tonight’s Champions League encounter.

The two teams meet at San Siro in the first leg of their last 16 clash and the Spanish giants are hotly favoured to progress to the quarter-finals.

“It will be a great event, a great game,” Galliani stated. “It is beautiful to be in a position to be a part of this game.

“We’ll be up against the best side in the world. Look at their midfield – it’s the one that Spain won the World Cup and European Championship with.

“I won’t make any prediction as I can’t see into the future, but we believe. Barca are favourites, but the favourites don’t always win.”

Barcelona’s biggest threat will be Lionel Messi, a man who President Silvio Berlusconi wants man-marked this evening.

“Messi is the best player of all time,” continued Galliani. “He is even better than Diego Maradona and Pele.”
