Adriano Galliani has urged supporters to remember what President Silvio Berlusconi has done for Milan after the 2-0 win against Barcelona.
“All the fans should know who they have to thank,” the Vice-President stated after the memorable Champions League triumph against the Spanish giants.
“We have to dedicate this win to President Berlusconi as it’s the 27th anniversary of his acquisition of the club.
“President Berlusconi brought this club to the top of the world. The fans shouldn’t forget this – even when we lose to Sampdoria at home and not only when we win against Barcelona…”
Barca, despite playing at San Siro, were favourites to dispose of a Rossoneri side that started the season poorly.
“If I think of where we were after eight games played this season,” Galliani added. “Football is beautiful as you never know what can happen, but not even the most optimistic fan would have imagined this.
“Tonight’s game was extraordinary and will stay in our memories for a long time.
“We were a bit timid up front in the first half but the goal helped us. Then there was, once again, this characteristic that we’ve shown this season of playing better in the second half.”
Galliani also praised boss Massimiliano Allegri, a man whose job was on the line earlier on in the campaign.
“We did very well and I have to say that, in my opinion, our Coach was very, very good. We played a perfect match – it was a great game, played with great determination and character.”
