Milan legend Paolo Maldini admits that Riccardo Montolivo has proved himself at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.

The Italian international joined the Diavolo in the summer on a free transfer from Fiorentina” data-scaytid=”2″>Fiorentina after his Viola deal expired.

“Montolivo has really surprised me,” the former Italian international captain told the Gazzetta dello Sport.

“He’s been consistent, he has quality and he’s proved that he can adapt to a number of different roles.

“He’s a decisive player, one who can fill the hole that was left when Andrea Pirlo moved on,” Maldini added.

“He has physical strength, he wins back the ball, he has vision – he’s got it all.”

Maldini added that another summer signing had caught his eye as well. “Kevin Constant,” he explained. “He’s quick, he has good technique and has personality.”

Montolivo, 28, has appeared in 29 games for the Diavolo across all competitions this season.

Constant, meanwhile, is a midfielder who has been converted to a full-back by boss Massimiliano Allegri. He’s played in 23 matches.
