Malesani was hired at the start of this month after Gian Piero Gasperini was axed. However, after three draws from three games, Gasperini has now been recalled.

“I’ve received a lot of phone calls from fans and people in the game who made me aware that Palermo played better under Gasperini,” the President told Tuttosport.

“I re-watched three matches with Gasperini in charge and three matches with Malesani – I then made a decision.”

The Rosanero are bottom of the table after collecting just 20 points from 26 games. They are presently six points shy of survival.
