New Sampdoria President Edoardo Garrone will offer Coach Delio Rossi a new contract – but not until they’ve taken a few more steps towards survival.
Rossi was hired in December and asked to keep the club in Serie A after previous boss Ciro Ferrara was shown the door.
“We’ve spoken about a renewal,” Garrone noted. “However, we’ve both decided that it may be better to meet up again when we have a few more points on the board.”
The 53-year-old was only handed a deal until June when he arrived at the club, an agreement that included an option for an extra season.
Samp have collected 15 points from nine games – including wins over Juventus and Roma – since his capture.
The suggestion is that Rossi will be given a contract until 2015.
Samp are tenth, 11 points above the drop zone.
