Palermo President Maurizio Zamparini admits he is “feeling the stress” as Gian Piero Gasperini returns to the bench against Torino.

Last Sunday the patron fired Coach Alberto Malesani after just three games to recall Gasperini, who had been sacked on February 4.

“I am feeling the stress and really don’t want to talk about tomorrow’s game, as I feel it too keenly,” Zamparini told LiveSicilia.

“As I said before, the team’s problem is purely psychological, as it’s as if they were afraid of their opponents.

“This squad is absolutely not worthy of sitting at the bottom of the Serie A table. Safety will not be easy, but I believe and it’s still mathematically possible.

“I think everything will get easier when this horrible bad luck turns away from us. I also told the players and the fans that we all have to believe in ourselves. I didn’t like seeing the team jeered when they gave their souls on the pitch.

“I can assure you all that the players are really upset at the way this season is going and many of them were crying after the draw with Genoa. Palermo need to be helped, not knocked further down.

“Even if it goes badly, I am preparing some projects to get straight back into Serie A. I will work hard to make Palermo one of the best teams in the top flight.”
