Newspapers are still speculating over what caused Antonio Cassano’s huge row with Andrea Stramaccioni, including Jose Mourinho.

The striker was dropped for Inter’s trip to Catania after a locker room bust-up with his Coach on Friday.

The story was leaked out for Saturday’s papers and Stramaccioni insisted it was only “a discussion” rather than the reports they had to be physically separated by Dejan Stankovic and Team Manager Ivan Cordoba.

Mystery still surrounds the reasons behind this argument, as Cassano is one of the players most used by Stramaccioni this season.

The Corriere dello Sport claims Cassano was extremely irritable after a weekly weigh-in showed he had lost control of his diet. There could be issues at home, as his wife Carolina is expecting their second child.

Others suggested the 30-year-old forward was becoming too forthright and even mean during training sessions with the younger players, criticising them bitterly for mistakes.

La Gazzetta dello Sport even claims the row started at the end of the training session, when Cassano sarcastically referred to Stramaccioni as 'Mourinho.'

Cassano had been due to begin contract renegotiations to extend his deal until 2015, but the delay until June also added to his bad mood.

Now it remains to be seen whether Inter will be ready to sign on the fiery forward for an extra year, as his current contract expires in 2014.
