Marchetti: 'Lazio not in crisis'

Federico Marchetti prepares for Stuttgart in the Europa League and insists talk of a Lazio crisis is “laughable.”

The Biancocelesti are still unbeaten in Europe this season and play the first leg of the Round of 16 in Stuttgart, but have stuttered recently in Serie A.

“We are a solid side, but know that we must improve some things and deal with certain situations better. We are facing this game with the belief we can do well and qualify,” said the goalkeeper.

“Don’t forget it is only us and Inter who are competing in three tournaments at this stage, so it’s laughable when papers try to say Lazio are ‘in crisis.’

“Luck hasn’t been on our side as much recently and we have made some mistakes, but we are working on it. Lazio hadn’t progressed to the last 16 of Europe for many years, so it’s already an achievement to be here.

“It’s only natural that you are not at top fitness throughout the whole season, because there are so many games.”

The Biancocelesti are through to the Coppa Italia Final.
