Alessandro Matri is hoping that Italy boss Cesare Prandelli has been watching his recent performances for Juventus.
The striker has scored three in his last six League appearances for the Old Lady, while he netted in both legs of the 5-0 aggregate win over Celtic in the Champions League.
“I’d like to get back into the national squad,” admitted the former Cagliari hitman. “I’m an Italian player and I dream of the Nazionale.
“As I’ve always said, I need to do well for Juventus in order to make the squad – that is the only way you get in.”
The 28-year-old has six goals in 16 League games this term, as well as two in seven Champions League ties.
Matri’s five international caps, with one goal, have all come under Prandelli. However, his last appearance came in a 1-0 defeat to USA back in February 2012.
The Azzurri will face World Cup hosts Brazil in a Geneva international friendly on March 21.
