“We are facing a strong and balanced side like Lazio, so will need a practically perfect performance to emerge with a result from the Olimpico,” said Montella in his Press conference.

“Petkovic has worked hard on the team and moulded them perfectly. This is a squad that knows how to interpret the various moments in a match the right way and is showing consistency.

“I really like Petkovic, as he is a positive figure for our football who is always balanced and honest. I admire him very much.”

Montella surprised many last week by substituting star player Stevan Jovetic, but it was after his decision that Fiorentina got the 2-1 win over Chievo.

“Jovetic is very fired up and is proving that. If there is so much talk about him, it’s down to the fact he is a great player.

“In order to do well at the Olimpico, we must continue applying our philosophy of football. I really liked the performance and the team spirit shown in the second half against Chievo.”

Alberto Aquilani is suspended, but Juan Cuadrado returns from his one-match ban.
