AVB: 'Try to win without Bale'

Andre Villas-Boas spoke to Italian television ahead of tonight’s game with Inter and confirmed “we’ll try to win even without Gareth Bale.”

Tottenham won the first leg of their Europa League Round of 16 tie 3-0 last week, but Welsh Wizard Bale is suspended for the trip to San Siro.

“It is always nice to see so many people who helped me in my career as a Coach and mean so much to me,” AVB told Mediaset Premium.

He worked at Inter as a talent scout for Jose Mourinho before branching out on his own.

“We have to do our jobs, because anything could still happen. In football if you score early then you get a psychological and emotional advantage. We must be careful, try to score a goal and only then think about the quarter-finals.

“Bale is a very important player for us, someone who can drag the team forward by himself and he is an abnormal talent.

“His physical and mental condition is exceptional. However, the team has many talents and we’ll try to win even without Gareth.”
