Coach Devis Mangia was still not content after Italy’s Under-21 side beat Russia 2-0. “We can do better and we know it.”
Last night’s friendly in Cittadella continued their preparations for the European Under-21 Championship in Israel this summer. Ciro Immobile and Lorenzo Insigne got the goals.
“We can do better and we know it,” muttered Mangia after the victory.
“It was a step forward compared to our win over Germany, but we know that we are capable of more. I don’t have to tell the team that, as they know it already.
“I am happy that we kept a clean sheet, especially because it was thanks to the way we played as a unit.
“Immobile can play as a partner for Manolo Gabbiadini, as characteristics count only to a certain degree if you want to be part of a team.
“Now we have to keep going forward and prepare well for the Euros.”
The Azzurrini face Ukraine in another friendly next week.
