Sampdoria put transfers on hold

Sampdoria have silenced the transfer speculation over Mauro Icardi and Simone Zaza. “Survival comes first.”

Icardi, 20, has been heavily linked with a summer move to Inter, while 21-year-old Zaza is also a wanted man given his goal exploits this season while on loan at Ascoli.

“Now is not the moment to be discussing transfers,” sporting director Carlo Osti told Radio Sportiva. “We don’t want to talk about the future when we’re involved in a survival fight.

“That’s the case for Icardi and for Zaza. When the right time arrives then we will sit down around a table and draw up our transfer strategy.”

Sampdoria are 12th in the table with 36 points and nine games left to play this term following the recent postponement of their tie against Inter.

Doria are currently 10 points clear of the drop zone.
