Ilicic: Palermo better than this…

Josip Ilicic says his struggling Palermo side should not be fighting to escape relegation to Serie B.

“The League table does not represent our real value,” the Slovenian midfielder told Siol in his homeland.

“The truth is that everything has gone wrong this season. But today we have more self belief, the wins over Roma and Sampdoria were important.”

The Rosanero are now in with a chance of staying up given that they are level on points with Siena and Genoa in the relegation zone.

The midfielder, seven goals in 26 games, was also asked about the speculation that he’s set for a summer move.

“Despite the stories, I have not spoken to anyone,” he maintained. “I’m just thinking of doing well with Palermo.

“Then, at the end of the season, I will speak to President Maurizio Zamparini about my future.”
