Palermo’s Josip Ilicic has confirmed that he turned down the opportunity to join Dynamo Kiev at the start of 2013.

“I received an offer from them, but I said no because I wanted to fight and help Palermo stay in Serie A,” he told the Corriere dello Sport.

The Slovenian midfielder has been linked with a summer exit, especially should the Stadio Barbera outfit fall into Serie B.

“I don’t know what will occur in June,” he added. “The career of a footballer is short and moments arrive when you can change your life.

“Nevertheless, I’d like to remain in Italy.”
