Alberto Zaccheroni insists there was no shame for Juventus in losing to Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

The Old Lady were criticised following their 4-0 aggregate loss to the German giants in the last eight of the competition.

Bayern, then, last night, went on to beat Barcelona 4-0 in the first leg of their semi-final encounter.

“I evaluated Juventus’ season positively, even after their elimination from the Champions League,” the Japan boss told Sky Sport Italia.

“I would like to disassociate myself from the general consensus – Juventus played an excellent match against Bayern.

“The problem was that Bayern are unbeatable at this time. Juventus could do no more than they did.”

Italy 1982 World Cup winner Paolo Rossi also hailed the strength of the German champions after their demolition of Barca.

Zaccheroni, 60, spent six months on the Juventus bench when he replaced Ciro Ferrara in January 2010.
