The teenager seemed to open the door to a Nou Camp transfer earlier this week, but he’s cooled suggestions of an imminent capital exit.

“My words were perhaps misinterpreted,” he told Sky Sport Italia. “I’m a Roma player, I have a four-year contract here and I’m happy.

“I leave certain situations in the hands of my agent. I’m always the last to know about these things anyway.

“I’m just focused on training and playing the game.”

The Brazilian defender has been a revelation at the Stadio Olimpico after he was thrust into the first team by previous boss Zdenek Zeman.

“He was like a second father for me,” the summer signing from Corinthians noted. “He gave me his faith when I was a kid.

“However, I’m also happy with current Coach Aurelio Andreazzoli.”

Marquinhos, born in Sao Paulo, has appeared in 26 games across Serie A and the Coppa Italia so far this season.
