Diego Laxalt has insisted he’s been a fan of new club Inter since he was a kid. “I used to pick them on the PlayStation and I still do…”
The Uruguayan is expected to leave current outfit Defensor for the Beneamata at the end of the present campaign.
“Playing in Europe has been my objective since I was a child and wearing the Inter shirt was my dream,” he told calciomercato.com.
“I watched them on TV and I really liked the way the Nerazzurri played. That’s how I became an Inter fan.
“I used to select Inter on the PlayStation and I still do.
“When I heard of their interest, I briefly consulted my agent and family, but I had no doubts. Lazio wanted me too, but Inter are Inter…”
The South American only celebrated his 20th birthday in February, but he’s certain that he’s ready for the challenge of Serie A.
“Football is football,” he explained. “The Italian championship is certainly quicker and more physical than the Uruguayan game, but I’ve been studying your secrets on television. I believe in my potential.”
Laxalt also rejected comparisons with former Inter and Uruguay forward Alvaro Recoba. “I don’t know why, we play in two completely different roles.
“I like the defensive and offensive phase, I run a lot and I always give my all. I think I’m a bit similar to Edgar Davids.”
