President of the Italian Footballers' Association [AIC] Damiano Tommasi believes that Javier Zanetti will return from his injury.
The Inter captain tore his Achilles tendon during the Nerazzurri's 1-0 loss to Palermo on Sunday afternoon.
And the former Roma man has insisted that the 39-year-old will come back to play again, whilst also commenting on reports that Milan fans taunted the Argentine veteran during their game against Catania at the weekend.
“I trust Zanetti if he says he will return,” Tommasi told reports. “If that's the case he definitely will.
“The songs sung by the Milan fans? Some people just want to be in the newspapers or on television.
“If that's their motive then they succeeded. The important thing is we try to give less importance to this sort of scandal.”
