Palermo put Ilicic future on hold

Palermo have underlined that Josip Ilicic will not necessarily leave the club at the end of the season.

The Slovenian international is being linked with the likes of Roma and Sampdoria in Italy, but President Maurizio Zamparini says it’s too soon to decide his future.

“We’ll see what happens at the end of the campaign, seeing as he is making the difference for us right now,” Zamparini told Radio Radio.

“It will depend on where we find ourselves and what project we decide on.

“If things go in the way that I have in my mind then, maybe, we could even be stronger than Roma next season and Ilicic will stay…”

Palermo, who travel to title-chasing Juventus on Sunday, are fighting to escape relegation to Serie B.

The 25-year-old has scored 10 times in 29 Serie A games this term – those include a goal in each of his last five matches.
