Vladimir Petkovic hopes to turn the tide against Bologna, but admits “our all was not enough” for Lazio.

The Aquile had been on sparkling form, fighting for third place in Serie A, in the Europa League quarter-finals and the Coppa Italia Final, but the last few weeks have seen them crumble.

“Over this season we gave our all, fighting on three fronts simultaneously,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

“Now the situation has become delicate, so we must concentrate on Serie A and pick up as many points as possible. Unfortunately, our all was not enough.

“I’d like to see the positive and hungry Lazio of old, so I hope against Bologna can be the right occasion. We must step on to the field with the right determination, convinced we can give 100 per cent and honour the shirt we wear.

“Bologna play good football and an excellent side. In my view, considering the qualities at their disposal, they could’ve done better than battle against relegation this season.”

This has been Petkovic’s first season at Lazio and in Italian football, so he has taken it as a learning experience.

“Planning for the future cannot just be based on our final position in the table,” he noted. “Obviously certain details can vary, but we must work in parallel with the current campaign.

“I have an excellent rapport with director Igli Tare, as we have no problems discussing things, even if at times certain decisions are down to the club. My job remains training this team.”
