Abete: No Serie A reform

President of the Italian Football Federation [FIGC] Giancarlo Abete has insisted that the number of teams in Serie A will not change.

The governing body's chief had admitted last year that he was looking to reduce the number of sides in the top flight down to 18.

But the administrator has today confirmed that those plans have been scrapped.

“I do not think there is interest in reducing the number of teams in our League,” he told reporters.

“Serie A reform is not on our agenda.”
