Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis is delighted with Champions League qualification, but underlined that it should have been expected.
The Azzurri will again take part in the group stages of Europe’s premier club competition next term after securing second place in Serie A on Wednesday.
“This is dedicated to the fans, to the city, but also the players and boss Walter Mazzarri,” the movie mogul told the Corriere dello Sport.
“However, I want to again make it clear that this second place is not an exceptional event for us – it is normality.
“These are the objectives that we have in mind. Being protagonists in the Italian game should be normal for Napoli.”
The Stadio San Paolo chief also confirmed his desire to get boss Mazzarri to sign a new contract once his present deal expires next month.
“I’ll keep Mazzarri and I’ll keep a tight grip of him.”
