The Delfini were promoted last summer after winning the Serie B title under Zdenek Zeman, but completely changed the squad and went through three tacticians.
“We moved very badly over the summer transfer market,” Sebastiani told Il Centro.
“Mervan Celik’s first game sent the fans crazy, while the same happened with Juan Fernando Quintero, Vladimir Weiss and Birkir Bjarnason.
“We could’ve signed more ‘aged’ players, but economic reasons were behind our failure to get Guglielmo Stendardo, Enzo Maresca and Sergio Floccari.
“Our director of sport Daniele Delli Carri has very little chance of remaining, both for the mistakes he made on the transfer market and because every Sunday he is criticised by the fans yet hasn’t clarified the situation with them.”
The problems also arose with regards to the Coach who replaced Zeman, as Giovanni Stroppa was far from first choice.
“Edy Reja turned us down, just as Delio Rossi did. Gian Piero Gasperini preferred to say no and wait for a big club to call. Pasquale Marino was ready, but then he already had a deal in place with Catania that collapsed. Who else was I supposed to get?” moaned President Sebastiani.
“This is why I focused on a young Coach like Stroppa.”
He had also shown faith in Stroppa, who resigned after some poor results. Cristiano Bergodi was fired in March to make way for co-Coaches Cristian Bucchi and Bruno Nobili.
